UAV Development

Coaxial Quadcopter UAV — 8-Motor Platform

Complete design and development of a custom coaxial quadcopter with eight motors arranged in four coaxial propulsion pairs, including aircraft calculations, propulsion, power architecture, flight-control integration and flight testing.

Project Overview

Complete design and development of a custom coaxial quadcopter UAV using eight motors arranged in four coaxial propulsion pairs. The project covered the complete aircraft development process from initial requirements and engineering calculations through propulsion-system design, structural architecture, onboard electronics, flight-control integration and flight testing. The propulsion system was designed around eight BLDC motors and ESCs. Engineering work included thrust and thrust-to-weight calculations, motor and propeller selection, battery sizing, power consumption analysis and power-distribution design. The onboard system integrated flight-control electronics, GNSS and navigation sensors, ESC and motor control, power distribution, telemetry, RF communication links and antenna systems. Particular attention was paid to the interaction between upper and lower propulsion units in the coaxial configuration, vibration, power-system loading, thermal management, electromagnetic compatibility and overall aircraft reliability. The work included aircraft architecture, component selection, mechanical and electronic integration, flight-controller configuration, ground testing, optimization and flight testing.
